Spring Valley tops Glenwood City, snaps losing streak
A strong fourth quarter effort led Spring Valley to a 44-38 win over Glenwood City in a Dunn-St.Croix Conference contest Monday evening.
SPRING VALLEY - A strong fourth quarter effort led Spring Valley to a 44-38 win over Glenwood City in a Dunn-St.Croix Conference rescheduled contest Monday evening.
It was only last Thursday when SV was outscored decisively in the fourth quarter in a loss to Mondovi. This time it was different. The Cardinals played with intensity and energy at both ends of the floor to turn back a Hilltopper rally as SV's 20-10 halftime lead was cut to just two points at 26-24 in the third quarter.
The Cardinals scored 18 points in the fourth quarter and Ben Becker scored half of those points. He finished with 14 points for the ballgame to lead SV in scoring. Troy Rudesill finished with 12 points for the Cards. GC's leading scorer was Richard Ross with 12 points.
The win snaps two-game losing streak for Spring Valley they climb to the .500 mark in the D-SC at 5-5, 6-9 overall. Glenwood drops to 4-11 overall and 3-8 in the league. Valley won't have much time to enjoy the wins as they hots Boyceville tonight.
