Both U teams top college hockey polls once again

-- The University of Minnesota men's and women's hockey teams continue to each be ranked No. 1 in the nation in the USCHO.com poll.

MINNEAPOLIS - The University of Minnesota men's and women's hockey teams continue to each be ranked No. 1 in the nation in the USCHO.com poll.

The St. Cloud State men, who are actually in first place in the WCHA ahead of the Gophers, moved up four spots to No. 12 this week, while Minnesota State-Mankato is 15th. Minnesota-Duluth is ranked tenth in the women's survey. Gustavus Adolphus is ranked No. 2 in this week's NCAA Division III women's poll.

Two MIAC student-athletes have earned weekly recognition for their work on the ice. Gustavus Adolphus senior Lindsey Hjelm of North Oaks is this week's MIAC women's hockey Athlete of the Week after she helped the Gusties to a sweep of Concordia-Moorhead. St. Olaf junior forward Jeff Harris of Simi Valley, California, is the men's honoree. He helped the Oles to a pair of one-goal wins over St. Thomas.

The Minnesota Wild begin a brief two-game homestand tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Minnesota has lost three in-a-row following Sunday's 5-4 overtime setback in St. Louis. The Wild are 2-2-and-1 on the season. The Blue Jackets are 1-3-and-1.
