Klaustermeier, Langer
Lauren Klaustermeier and Brent Langer were recognized during an assembly at Hillcrest Elementary School Thursday. The school is presently promoting “courage” as a character trait, part of the local schools’ district-wide character education program. Klaustermeier and Langer were brought in to exemplify this as members of the Ellsworth community. She is an Emergency Medical Technician and he is the EFD’s fire chief. Both were presented with medals in a show of appreciation.

Brent Langer’s history on the way to becoming the Ellsworth Fire Department’s fire chief was shared with the Hillcrest Elementary School population at an assembly Thursday. Langer, who grew up near the school, followed in the footsteps of his father on the department. He’s been chief for the last 15 years.

Murphy
First grader Aiden Murphy was touted to Hillcrest Elementary School students as being one of their own who demonstrates courage. The six-year-old is battling a brain tumor. He wore a medal presented to him in recognition during an assembly Thursday.
