Amish teen drowns in pond in Vernon County
Western Wisconsin News-- An Amish teenager who drowned in a farm pond while chopping ice blocks for his family has been identified as 17-year-old Lester Mullet of the Vernon County town of Clinton.
VIROQUA - An Amish teenager who drowned in a farm pond while chopping ice blocks for his family has been identified as 17-year-old Lester Mullet of the Vernon County town of Clinton.
Sheriff’s officials said other boys had just delivered ice blocks to the family’s farm-house when they returned and saw only Lester’s gloves on top of the water.
Vernon County rescue divers recovered the boy’s body about two-and-a-half hours after he fell in. The pond was 8-to-12-feet deep.
