PRESCOTT - Prescott High School's boys' basketball team gets one more chance to make a move up the Middle Border Conference standings tonight when it hosts No. 9 ranked Durand. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m.

Durand leads the league with a 10-1 record while Somerset is 9-1 and Prescott is 7-3. The Cardinals play Durand tonight and Somerset next week. Both Somerset and Durand will play each other in their last regular season game Feb. 15.

All this is part of a busy schedule the Cardinals are playing over the final two weeks of the season. PHS topped Hastings 75-51 Monday and crushed St. Croix Central 54-29 Tuesday. On Friday Prescott will be at home against St. Paul CHOF. Monday has the Cards' hosting Somerset (a rescheduled contest) and next Tuesday they are at New Richmond.

"We have to play six out of our next seven school nights," Prescott head coach Nick Johnson said. "Earlier in the season we needed more practice time to come together as a team and now we're at the point we can handle playing games on multiple nights."

Since losing at Durand 58-49 back on Jan. 4 the Cardinals have won seven out of their last eight contests using tough defense and balanced scoring. Playing like Mike Brookshaw and Charlie Tayson have emerged as scorers to added to points coming from Clay Seifert and Nick Jacobsen.

PHS will have to find a way to conrol Durand's top-three scorers, all averaging in double figures, Jake Weber, Drew Minturn and Jack Komro.

Other boys' hoops game tonight include Ellsworth at Somerset, Spring Valley at Elmwood and Plum City at No. 5 Elk Mound.
