Golden Gopher hockey teams both winners
Minnesota Sports-- The No. 1 ranked University of Minnesota men's hockey team won a first place showdown with St. Cloud State Friday 4-2 while the equally No. 1 ranked women's team edged Ohio State 5-2.

The U women's team scored three unanswered goals in the second and third periods to win at Ohio State. The U broke a 2-2 tie with goals from Amanda Kessel, Rachel Bona and Brittany Braunsen. She had two goals in the contest and Megan Bozek had a goal and an assist. Gopher goalie Noora Raty made 18 saves as the U still outshot OSU 46-20. The series concludes today in Columbus at the OSU Ice Arena.
The Gopher men also tallied a pair of unanswered goals in the third period to beat the Huskies in front of a jammed packed crowd of over 5,600 in the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minn. Nate Schmidt and Erik Haula scored those goals for the Gophers, as they moved into a three-way tie for second place with 26 points while SCSU has 29 points. Haula had two goals for the game and Nick Bjugstad also scored a goal. Schmidt had an assists and Kyle Rau had two assists. Winning goalie Adam Wilcox had 22 saves as the U outshot St. Cloud State 42-24. The series final is tonight.
