DULUTH - Authorities on both sides of the state line say a nine-month investigation called “Operation Crackdown” has resulted in 30 arrests in both Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin.

Task force agents say they busted a crack cocaine trafficking ring. Investigators say their suspects were trading crack for government food-assistance debt cards at about half the face value of those cards. They say the accused dealers would either go into the store with the drug buyer and purchase groceries with the EBT cards, or they would force the buyer to prove the card still had money, then take it.

Leaders of the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force say they are still looking for 10 suspects.
