MILWAUKEE - Marquette University men's basketball team retains its hold on the top spot in the Big East Conference standings with an 89-78 win over DePaul Saturday at the Bradley Center.

Vander Blue led the way with 18 points, while Junior Cadougan added 17. The game extended a couple of streaks – 22 consecutive home victories for Marquette and eight straight losses for the Blue Demons. Offensive rebounding was a big weapon for the Eagles. They only missed 24 shots and got the rebound on half of them

It won’t be easy for the Golden Eagles to stay on top. They still have conference games remaining with Syracuse, Notre Dame and Georgetown. Marquette’s record is now 17-5, including 8-2 in conference play.
