Retired from city, Peterson heads center

Maybe becoming director of the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Center was meant to be for Carol Peterson.
The retiree from Esdaile began attending the center’s Tuesday Club approximately a year ago, she said Thursday. In December, she injured her right arm and shoulder in a fall on some ice. She was facing unexpected medical bills when approached by Gloria Nelson, former director, about filling a recent vacancy in the job.
“I liked the people right away,” the now-recovering-from-surgery Peterson said, realizing the offer might have been “God’s answer” to what she’d been experiencing.
After all, Nelson had referred to her as the “perfect replacement” when she came by with some Christmas cookies and an appeal for her to consider the position, the new director said. She accepted, succeeding Tom Boden early this month.
