Elmwood sweeps hoops games vs, Spring Valley Thursday
Both the boys and girls basketball teams of Elmwood and Spring Valley high schools were in action Thursday evening against each other. EHS came away victorious in both.

Both the boys and girls basketball teams of Elmwood and Spring Valley high schools were in action Thursday evening against each other. EHS came away victorious in both.
The Elmwood boys won at Spring Valley 51-35 in a rescheduled contest while The Elmwood girls topped Spring Valley 47-32 in the Chet Lein Memorial Game at Elmwood.
The Raider girls only led 23-21 at halftime, the difference of a McKayla Brunner half-court shot that went in at the first quarter buzzer. But the Red and Black label took control int he second half, outscoring the Cardinals 24-11. Elmwood had balanced scoring led by Ally Pax's 14 points, eight from Brunner, seven points from Jennifer Weix and six points from Janessa VandenBerge. SV couldn't keep us as its leading scorer was Emily Boisen with 10 points while Emily Hofacker scored seven points Nevada Schlegel finished with six points.
The wins snaps a three-game losing streak for Elmwood as they improve to 7-13 overall and 4-11 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference. Valley is 4-16 overall and 1-13 in league play. Elmwood's next game is a home contest Thursday vs. Glenwood City while Spring Valley hosts Plum City Monday before concluding the regular season at St. Croix Central next Thursday.
EHS's boys team completed a season sweep of its Eau Galle River rivals. Spring Valley never let Elmwood get off to a big lead in the contest but never had the firepower on offense to threaten that advantage either. The Raiders were led in scoring by Logan Wolf's 16 points while Kyle Webb finished with 12 points, Levi Wolf scored nine points and Seth Jones had seven points. Spring Valley did not have anyone score in double figures. They were led by nine points each for Ben Becker and Bryan Bednarek while Zach Webster scored eight points.
Elmwood is 17-4 overall and 11-4 in the conference. Spring Valley drops to 7-13 overall and 7-8 in the D-SC. Both team wrap-up their regular seasons tonight with Elmwood hosting Glenwood City and Spring Valley at St. Croix Central.
