Blue leads Marquette to season sweep of Pitt

Blue finished with 19 points and he added six rebounds as the Golden Eagles recaptured a first-place tie in the Big East Conference standings. They are 9-3 in conference play and 18-6 overall. The Panthers came into Milwaukee ranked 16th, but the 18th-ranked Eagles controlled the game hitting 57 percent of their shots.

Pitt’s defense was ranked fifth in the nation, but couldn’t stop shooters like Blue and Davante Gardner, who scored 14. He came up big when he was needed, accounting for 10 of Marquette’s 11 points during a late-game surge. The lay-up which capped the surge also gave the Golden Eagles their biggest lead of the game at 72-54 with a little over four minutes left. Pitt’s conference mark falls to 8-5.
