Beavers come close but U stays unebeaten
Minnesota Sports-- Bemidji State came closer than any team had to beating undefeated and No. 1 ranked Minnesota Saturday evening at Ridder Arena. But the Golden Gophers survived with a 3-2 win in overtime.
MINNEAPOLIS - Bemidji State came closer than any team had to beating undefeated and No. 1 ranked Minnesota Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena. But the Golden Gophers survived with a 3-2 win in overtime.
Mira Jalouso scored the winning goal for the U at the 3:48 mark on a power play. Rachel Ramsey had a goal and an assist for the Gophers and Amanda Kessel also scored a goal for Minnesota, which was her 135th career point.
BSU, which is in last place in the WCHA, stayed close despite being outshot 44-14 because goalie Jessica Havel made an incredible 41 saves. Kaitlyn Touglas had both of Bemidji State's goals which BSU the lead twice in the game. Noora Raty made 12 saves for the Gophers.
