Rookies help Wild beat Red Wings
Minnesota Sports-- Minnesota Wild rookies Jason Zucker and Darcy Kuemper stole the show as Minnesota rallied past Detroit 3-2 in the Xcel Energy Center last night.
ST. PAUL - Minnesota Wild rookies Jason Zucker and Darcy Kuemper stole the show as Minnesota rallied past Detroit 3-2 in the Xcel Eenergy Center last night.
Zucker scored a goal in his first NHL game, while Kuemper notched his first NHL victory. Torrey Mitchell scored his first goal as a member of the Wild to key the win. Minnesota trailed 2-0 heading into the second period, where the Wild exploded for three goals over a four-minute span. Zucker and Mitchell scored 32-seconds apart.
The Wild snapped a two-game slide and will play at Edmonton on Thursday night.

Former University of Minnesota star Paul Martin scored the go-ahead goal with 2:04 to go as the Pittsburgh Penguins clipped the Sabres 4-3 in Buffalo last night. Former Shattuck-St. Mary's star Sidney Crosby had a goal and two helpers for the Pens, who have won three in-a-row and eight-of-10 overall. Martin, an Elk River native, was a member of the Gopher national title teams in 2002 and 2003.
