Steve Stricker of Madison will play in his first golf event this week in just over a month. Stricker will be the only Wisconsinite in the Accenture Match Play Championship, which begins on Wednesday in Marana, Arizona.
Sixty-four pros will compete in the World Golf Championships’ event. Stricker is seeded fourth in the Sam Snead bracket, and will play 13th-seeded Henrik Stenson in the first round on Wednesday. Stricker is limiting his appearances this year to spend more time with his family in Wisconsin, and to be more involved with his charity work. He’s only been in two tournaments in 2013.
Stricker finished second in the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.
