WIAA releases pairings for girls regional tournaments

Two Pierce County girls basketball teams received high-enough seed to have home games in next week's regional tournament.
Prescott, 12-9 overall, is a No. 8 seed in its Division 3 half-sectional bracket and the Cardinals will host No. 9 seed Altoona, 8-13 overall, Tuesday in the first round. The winner faces No. 1 seed, No. 1 ranked and unbeaten Neillsville, 20-0. Near these match-ups is No. 12 seeded Ellsworth, 3-17 overall, at Durand, 15-6 overall, Tuesday with the winner at No. 4 Arcadia, 17-4 overall, Friday.
In Division 4, Spring Valley, 4-16 overall, is the No. 11 seed in its Division 4 sectional half-bracket and they will play its first round-game at No. 6 seed Boyceville, 10-11 overall. The winner who play at third-seeded Elk Mound, 15-5 overall, Friday.
Plum City, 8-10 overall, is the other Pierce County team with a first-round home game. The Blue Devils have the No. 2 seed in their regional bracket. They will host Independence, 5-15 overall. The winner faces either No. 3 Cochrane-Fountain City, 10-10 overall, or No. 6 Gilmanton, 6-12 overall.
Also in Division 5, No. 5 seeded Elmwood, 7-14 overall, will be at No. 4 Blair-Taylor, 8-12 overall. The winner faces No. 1 seed Eleva-Strum, 11-10 overall, or No. 8 Alma/Pepin, 2-15 overall, on Friday.
The regional finals will take place Saturday evening.
