ELMWOOD--The Elmwood Village Board met early last week and reviewed the proposed purchase of a new police squad vehicle.

To purchase the $12,000 truck, board members approved a resolution about a Community Facilities Grant Agreement. The resolution is a last formality to make the purchase.

In committee news, Trustee Trish Knops announced the library will have new hours. The hours of operation have been reduced due to lack of funding for staff.

The new hours are: Mondays and Tuesdays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (story time will still be at 10 a.m.), Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon and Sundays, closed.

There were two events to promote more activity at the library. Nine girls took part in a teen lock-in event and 20 people participated in a Friends of The Library Valentine's event.

Knops also reported John Thomas from the Indianhead Federated Library System will meet with the library board to facilitate long-range planning activities.
