Letter from Rep. Petryk: Statement on the Governor's Budget Address
Representative Petryk (R-Eleva) released the following statement on Governor Walker’s biennial budget address:By: Rep. Warren Petryk , Pierce County Herald
MADISON -- Representative Petryk (R-Eleva) released the following statement on Governor Walker’s biennial budget address:
“Tonight Governor Walker presented a clear and ambitious foundation for our state’s next two year budget. While clearly keeping Wisconsin’s taxpayers in mind, Governor Walker’s budget includes income tax cuts for the middle class, increased funding for mental health, economic development initiatives, and increased funding to our state’s public education system.
“Together, in the previous 2011-12 legislative session, we were successful in erasing the state’s $3.6 billion deficit. We had to make tough reform decisions and establish a responsible budgeting process and because of our hard work, Wisconsin now has a $419 million surplus. Our focus moving forward will be solely on the creation of good-paying jobs and growing our state’s economy.
“I look forward to working with my legislative colleagues to build upon the Governor’s foundation and to move Wisconsin forward to more fiscal prosperity.”
