Play resumes at match-play championships after snow melts
Wisconsin Sports-- Play resumed early this afternoon at the Accenture Match Play golf championship.
MARANA, Ariz. - Play resumed early this afternoon at the Accenture Match Play golf championship.
Up to four inches of snow suspended the first round yesterday, and it melted to the point in which the 64 players could resume golfing. Wisconsin’s only player, Steve Stricker of Madison, was three-up on Henrik Stenson through five holes as of mid-afternoon.
The winner will face either Nick Watney or David Toms in the Round of 32. Tournament officials were hoping the second round could begin today – but it took longer than expected for the snow to get out of the way. As of mid-afternoon, only two of the initial 32 matches were completed. Matt Kuchar and Bo Van Pelt were the first to advance.
