Wisconsin Sports-- Steve Stricker of Madison has made the Sweet-16 round at the WGC Match Play Championship in southern Arizona.
MARANA, Ariz. - Steve Stricker of Madison has made the Sweet-16 round at the WGC Match Play Championship in southern Arizona.
Stricker needed 21 holes yesterday to defeat Nick Watney one-up in their second round match. All four No. 1 seeds have been eliminated, after Luke Donald and Louis Oosthuizen lost yesterday. Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy lost on Thursday.
The tournament is a day behind schedule, after snow and high winds hit The Golf Club at Dove Mountain on Wednesday. They’ll catch up today, as two rounds are scheduled.
