Elvin William Kulenkamp, age 60, of Spring Valley, Wis., died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 24, at his home in Spring Lake Township.
Elvin William Kulenkamp, age 60, of Spring Valley, Wis., died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 24, at his home in Spring Lake Township.
Elvin was born Dec. 28, 1952, in St. Paul, Minn., to Alferd and Carol (Garrison) Kulenkamp. Elvin attended Taylors Falls School, graduating with the class of 1970. Elvin enjoyed music and sang in the high school choir. He was very intelligent and graduated near the top of his class.
Elvin worked with his dad and his mom on their farm in Spring Lake Township. He later purchased the farm and also worked at Cady Cheese. Elvin furthered his education by attending the University of Minnesota for a year and then enrolled in law enforcement recruit training at Chippewa Valley Technical College. He earned his degree and worked for the Village of Elmwood for a while before taking a position with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department in 1981.
Elvin always supported his wife, Amy's, passion for horses, but preferred to tinker with mechanics. He was a proud father of his sons, Justin and Josh.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Amy, who died Nov. 10, 2010; and his father-in-law, Kenneth Kriedeman.
Survivors include his two sons, Justin and Josh Kulenkamp of Spring Valley; five sisters and one brother: Blythe Baughman of Cincinnati, Ohio; Kathleen (Leroy) Amunrud of Clyde Park, Mont.; Michal (Thomas) Jorgens of Crookston, Minn.; Theresa (Mike) Rangitsch of St. Paul; Leah Kulenkamp of Duluth; and Joel Kulenkamp of Menomonie, Wis.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Kriedeman of Crivitz; two brothers-in-law: Ronald Kriedeman of Crivitz and Tim Kriedeman of Crivitz; special friend Deb Harding of Bay City, Wis.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley. Memorial funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Spring Valley, with Rev. D. Peter Friberg officiating. Music was provided by organist Linda Anderson and vocalist John Terkelsen.
Honorary pallbearers were Thomas Jorgens, Mike Rangitsch, Leroy Amunrud, Richard Johnson, Jerry Forss, Tom Gunderson, and Bill Stewart.
