Frances Buss, 70

Frances D. Yanisch Buss, 70, of River Falls, Wis., died on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing, Minn.

Frances was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, 1942, at River Falls City Hospital, the daughter of Herbert S. and Dorothy (Stern) Yanisch. She lived in Salem Township, Ellsworth, Wis., until 1945 when she moved with her parents to a farm in Oak Grove Township, Prescott, Wis.

She married Kenneth Peter Buss on May 28, 1960, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prescott. They farmed in the Big River area, Oak Grove Township, in River Falls. Kenneth died Sept. 13, 1990. Frances continued to farm with the help of her son Mike until January 2003. She worked for a short time in 1992 at Lunds Hardware in River Falls. She also worked at the Family Dollar Store in Ellsworth from 2004 until May 2008.

Frances is survived by her children, Robert (Kelly) Buss of Lakeville, Minn., Sandra (Brian) Ewing of Spring City, Penn., Michael A. Buss of River Falls, and Doreen (Len) Keck of Baldwin, Wis. She is also survived by grandchildren Kelsey and Kallie Buss, Kaitlyn and Emily Buss, Madisen and Noah Keck, and Sarah Ewing; her mother, Dorothy Yanisch of Prescott; and her sister Terri Goodwin Hempel (Jim) Avery of Ellsworth. She is further survived by nieces and nephews and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; father, Herbert Yanisch; and her sister Faye Riley.

Visitation will be at the Hill Funeral Home in Ellsworth from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Big River, Wis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
