Semifinals set in boys' state hockey tournament, girls tourney underway today
Wisconsin Sports-- Green Bay Notre Dame will play Verona, and Eau Claire Memorial will face Superior in the semi-finals of the boys’ state high school hockey tournament. All four won their quarter-final contests yesterday at the Alliant Energy Center.

Notre Dame still has a chance for a second straight title after shutting out Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln 7-0. Riley Christiansen scored three times, and Luke Davison had four assists for the Tritons.
Verona advanced with a 6-3 win over Wausau West. Nolan Kepler scored a hat trick for Verona. Eau Claire Memorial got by Whitefish Bay 2-1. Jacob Bresser scored the deciding goal for the Old Abes. Superior scored three unanswered goals within five minutes of the third period in beating Fond du Lac 6-3. Tyler Nystrom put Superior in front for good with a power play goal. Tonight’s winners will go for the state title tomorrow.

Schofield D.C. Everest will try to defend its title from a year ago, when the girls’ state high school hockey tournament begins this afternoon in Madison.
Everest, also known as the Central Wisconsin Storm, is in the state tourney for the fifth straight year. And they have the best record among the four semi-finalists at 24-1-1. Everest opens the tournament against the Onalaska co-op at noon. And Hayward/Spooner will play the University School of Milwaukee. Those winners will advance to the girls’ title game tomorrow at Madison’s Alliant Energy Center.
