Ellsworth Village Board approves no-parking on 10-63 in midway

The Ellsworth Village Board Monday approved establishing no-parking zones on Hwy. 10-63 on both the north and south side from Piety Street to Nilssen’s Foods’s driveway.
Members approved authorizing Village President Gerald DeWolfe to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation establishing the no parking zones on 10-63. This is being done as new turn lanes will be installed on 10-63 in the midway section by June in time for the opening of the new McDonald’s restaurant.
The board also approved plans for the 2013 Cheese Curd Festival. Members agreed to the parade route, events and the request to close Wall and Crosscut streets starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 28.
Board members listened to the zoning administrator’s 2012 report. Only one new home was built in the village last year. Board members also took in reports from the library board and the ambulance operating committee.
The board approved temporary Class B retailer’s licenses for Polka Fest and the Cheese Curd Festival, along with dance licenses for both events. Cheese Curd Fest will run from June 28-30 and Polka Fest is scheduled for July 11-14.
The board entered closed session to deal with TID No. 9, the Ellsworth Senior Assisted Living Center, along with the Wastewater Treatment Plant renovation and a land sale in the East End Industrial Park. The board came out of closed session and took no action.
