LINCON, Neb. - Brandon Ubel scored 15 points on 4-of-7 from the field to lead the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a 53-51 decision over the Minnesota Golden Gophers in Big Ten action at the Bob Devaney Center on Wednesday night.

Dylan Talley chipped in 12 points for Nebraska (14-16, 5-12 Big Ten) which snapped a two-game losing skid. Trevor Mbakwe paced Minnesota (20-10, 8-9) with 15 points and six rebounds. Andre Hollins had 14 points off the bench while second and third leading scorers Rodney Williams and Austin Hollins went scoreless on a combined 0-of-9 from the floor. Andre Hollins nailed a triple with 2:57 remaining in the game and followed it up with two free throws to tie the score at 46-46. Ubel responded with an old fashioned three-point play and sunk four free throws in the final seconds to seal it for the Cornhuskers. The loss ends the Gophers two game winning streak. It's was the final game at the Devaney Center as the 'Huskers move into a new arena next fall.

Ricky Rubio racked up 15 points, 11 assists, seven rebounds and six steals as the Minnesota Timberwolves topped the Washington Wizards 87-82 at the Target Center. Derrick Williams posted 16 points and eight boards for the T'wolves, who snapped a six-game skid. Minnesota travels to Denver on Saturday.

The University of Minnesota Women's basketball team hits the court tonight against Ohio State to get round one of the Big Ten Tournament underway. The Gophers enter the tourney as the #8 seed while the Buckeyes are #9. The Gophers finished the regular-season with an 18-12 record and went 7-9 in the Big Ten, their best league mark since the 2008-09 season. Tip is set for 6 p.m. tonight from Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Luis Figueroa got the go-ahead RBI-single in the eighth inning to help lead Team Puerto Rico to an 8-7 win over the Twins on Wednesday in an exhibition game at Hammond Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The one out single came off of reliever Anthony Slama. Twins righty Vance Worley allowed two runs (three earned) on six hits over 3 1/3 innings in his third start of the spring. Today the Twins have a pair of split squad games starting at 12:05 p.m. against Boston and Philadelphia.

The Wild have a few more days off before they wrap up their brief two-game road trip on Saturday in Nashville against the Predators. Minnesota has lost two-of-three following Tuesday's 5-3 setback in Chicago. The Wild sit at 11-9-2 on the season. The Preds are 9-9-5. They host the Oilers tomorrow before facing the Wild.

Minnesota Wild right wing Cal Clutterbuck skated with his teammates for the first time since getting injured in Edmonton on February 21st. In that game, Oilers forward Taylor Hall extended his knee and connected with the thigh of Clutterbuck. The play got Hall a two game suspension from the NHL but knocked Clutterbuck onto the injured reserve as he hasn't played since, missing the next six games. With Minnesota not playing again until Saturday in Nashville the thought is that Clutterbuck should return to the line up against the Predators.
