PHOENIX - Three Milwaukee Brewers players were involved in World Baseball Classic games Friday, with Yovani Gallardo the most successful.
The righthander went three and a third innings, allowing just two hits and one run, to earn the victory in Mexico’s 5-2 decision over the USA. Ryan Braun went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored for the USA. Reliever Jim Henderson was the other Brewer to play. He allowed two runs in one-third of an inning pitching for Canada in its 14-4 loss to Italy.
Low scores are the rule at the World Golf Championships and Steve Stricker is right in the middle of things. The Madison golfer is tied for third with Phil Mickelson entering today’s third round of action at Doral. Stricker shot a second straight five under par to end the first two rounds three shots behind the leader, Tiger Woods.
