Gopher teams win WCHA titles
Minnesota Sports-- The University of Minnesota men's and women's hockey teams were both WCHA title winners after both winning on Saturday.

The No. 1 ranked Golden Gopher women's team won the WCHA playoff title with a 2-0 win over North Dakota in front of over 2,200 fans at Ridder Arena. Goalie Noora Raty was at the top of her game Saturday as UND put 30 shots on goal and she saved all of them. Minnesota scored both its goals in the second period by Megan Bozek and Maryanne Menefee. Amanda Kessel and Milica McMillen assisted on the Bozek goal. Minnesota has won an NCAA record 38 regular season games with a perfect 38-0-0 record. The Gophers' shutout streak is now at six games and their overall winning streak is at 46. The U awaits its NCAA first round tournament pairing which will be announced later today.
The University of Minnesota men's team is WCHA regular season champs for the second season in a row and for the 14th time in school history. The No. 2 ranked Golden Gophers earned a piece of the MacNaughton Cup with a 5-1 belting of Bemidji State at the Sanford Center while St. Cloud State lost at Wisconsin. All five of Minnesota's goals came from five different players: Erik Haula and Nick Bjugstad in the first period, Zach Budish in the second and Jake Parenteau and Chritsian Isaacson in the third to put away what was a 3-1 game. Kyle Rau and Erik Haula had two assists and Parenteau and Isaccson both had assists as well as did Bjugstad. Winning goalie Adam Wilcox had 23 saves. The same two teams will meet again next weekend in Minneapolis for the first round of the WCHA Playoffs. Minnesota finishes the regular season with a 24-7-5 record.
