A Red Wing man was charged March 8 in Pierce County Circuit Court with exposing genitals and possession of child pornography.
Anthony Eugene Johnson, 25, is looking at penalties of $10,000 and/or 42 months prison if found guilty of the Class I felonies. His first court appearance is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, April 1.
According to the criminal complaint:
An FBI agent met with Ellsworth police last March and said Johnson had sent and received nude photographs in August 2011 to a 13-year-old girl, living in Michigan, for whom the FBI assumed identity. Furthermore, the agent told police the images were sent while Johnson’s cell phone was connected to Wi Fi out of the former Rock and Roll Café (now Pop’s Malt Shop).
Records show Johnson was incarcerated at the Pierce County Jail from April-August 2011 and, while on Huber privileges, he worked as a cook at the café.
Ellsworth police interviewed Johnson in March 2012 at the Pepin County Jail. Johnson told police he normally connects to the internet through WiFi capabilities. He said he would use the café’s WiFi capabilities when he worked there.
