Dorothy Jean (Budenski) Berglund died July 14 at Fairview Seminary Home in Red Wing.
She was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Vasa Township to Fred and Martha (Jebram) Budenski. She attended grade school at Dist. 144 in Vasa Township and graduated from Red Wing High School in 1942. She married LeRoy Berglund on Dec. 18, 1944, in Tacoma, Wash. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1998.
They farmed in the Bay City, Wis., area until 1968 when they moved to Red Wing. She worked for many years at Super Valu. She bowled for over 30 years in the Moonlite Bowling League. She belonged to the Fairview Red Wing Hospital Auxiliary where she did volunteer work and also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she also volunteered on different occasions.
She is survived by her son, Steven (Judy), Minnetonka, Minn.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Fredrick (Marie) Budenski, Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were one brother, Lorin Budenski, and three sisters, Bernadine Thumann, Marynia Peterson, and Helen Hansen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Gene Hasselquist officiating. Private burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Jean Berglund Memorial Fund c/o St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 320 West Ave., Red Wing, MN 55066.
