Crandon families upset over anonymous letter

Families of the Crandon shooting victims are upset after getting an anonymous letter that criticized plans to put a memorial at the crime scene.

Families of the Crandon shooting victims are upset after getting an anonymous letter that criticized plans to put a memorial at the crime scene.

The letter was signed by City of Crandon Taxpayers.

It said it’s great that the house where Tyler Peterson shot and killed six people last fall is being demolished on June 21. The letter said “We are sick to death about this memorial replacing the house,” and most people don’t want anything put there.

The letter also criticized the families who are suing Crandon and Forest County for millions in damages.

They said Peterson, 20, was too young to be a police and sheriff’s officer, and the agencies should have never let it happen.

The letter said “We understand that only one family isn’t suing – to the rest, shame on you.”

Rose Gerow, an aunt of shooting victim Bradley Schultz, says the families have suffered greatly and the anonymous letter just makes it worse.
