The Milwaukee Brewers are now 0-4 against Minnesota this year, after losing 7-3 Tuesday at Miller Park.
The Twins scored all their runs in the first three innings, as the Brewers dropped their fourth straight game overall and the 10th in their last 14.
And Milwaukee has fallen to two games behind first-place St. Louis in the National League Central division, their lowest point in the standings since May 11.
Manager Ken Macha said the Brewers literally gave last night’s game away.
They struck out Michael Cuddyer with two out in the first inning, but he reached first after Jason Kendall bobbled the ball the load the bases.
And then Joe Crede hit a three-run double to put the Twins in front for good.
In the second, the Twins scored the eventual game-winner when Carlos Gomez stretched a single into a double when Casey McGehee dropped the ball at second, and then Brendan Harris singled to score Gomez.
Gomez went 3-5 on the night. Crede went 2-5, and Justin Morneau doubled twice as the Twins out-hit Milwaukee 12-8.
Mike Cameron hit a two-run single for the Brewers. Francisco Liriano got his first victory since May 9, striking out six in five innings. He’s now 3-8.
Jeff Suppan took the loss to break a four-game unbeaten streak. He gave up seven runs in five innings.
The Brewers and Twins will play again tonight at Miller Park.
Right-hander Braden Looper faces Twins’ right-hander Nick Blackburn.
Back home, the Brewers are working around last Friday’s flood damage on the service level at Miller Park where the clubhouses are located.
The Brewers’ indoor batting cage is shut down for awhile, along with the team’s workout and weight room and video room.
Also, the players’ kitchen is off limits. Outfielder Ryan Braun says it will affect the team’s daily routine, but he also heard the Brewers did a phenomenal job to get the locker room ready for the players.
Flood waters entered both clubhouses through the north and south docks.
It did not get high enough to reach the players’ lockers, and it did not affect the field, seating areas or the concourses.
Parts of the Milwaukee area had 6 inches of rain last Friday.
