Beautify your community with grant money

The St. Croix County Master Gardener’s Association (SCVMGA) invites individuals and organizations to apply for a grant to help beautiful your community this year.
This year SCVMGA will be awarding a total of $3,500 in grant money. The requirements are that the project will benefit a non-profit or community service-based organization.
Types of projects previously funded include improvement of public spaces, community and civic gardening educational projects, and environmental stewardship. Horticultural educational projects aimed at youth or adults or projects aimed at growing food are also encouraged.
Some of the projects helped in the past include: rain gardens, school gardens, library and community gardens, gardens at senior centers, nursing homes and senior apartments. Grants have been awarded to Habitat for Humanity houses, prairie gardens, projects at St Croix and Pierce County fairgrounds, buckthorn removal, and youth projects.
Organizations within St. Croix and Pierce counties are eligible to apply. River Falls, Baldwin, Hudson, Spring Valley, New Richmond, Diamond Bluff, Glenwood City, Ellsworth, Plum City, Emerald, Troy Township, Somerset, St Joe Township and Glover Park have all had projects approved in the past.
Grant proposals must be submitted using our application and returned to Cheryl Edmonds at 535 Meadows Drive, Hammond, WI 54015 or by e-mail at cedmonds1@centurytel.net by April 12, 2010.
Proposals must include a plan of action, along with a budget and time line of completion. Projects receiving monies are required to submit a final report to SCVMGA by Oct 1, 2010.
