Butterflies star of insect unit
The first science unit in second grade this year was on insects. One of the highlights of the unit was raising Painted Lady Butterflies. Each classroom received a jar containing five larvae. Just like the book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, our larvae ate and ate and ate and ate until they grew to be five times their original size.
