The Ellsworth Middle School received a check from Fuel Up Play 60 Regional Representative Rita Houser. The check was for $600 to do several new initiatives with the middle school students. It will pay for t-shirts for students who are in the walking club before school and make the goal set for them. The money is also being used by the seventh grade health classes to research the healthiest breakfast options. The first group developed a meal plan consisting of milk, fruit and oatmeal pancakes. This promotion also has the Leaders of Health wall, where students who demonstrate healthy eating habits during lunch can possibly have their picture taken and displayed. The last initiative is for an Ellsworth Tryathlon, in which the students will swim for 10 minutes, run for 20 minutes and bike for 30 minutes. This event will happen at the Klaas/Jonas Pool and EMS on Monday, April 1, at 3 p.m. This is the second grant the local school district has received from Fuel Up Play 60 this year.
