Spill


A semi carrying about 960 bushels of shelled corn rolled over Monday afternoon on Hwy. 63, just south of Hwy. 29 near The Red Barn. Pierce County Sheriff’s Department deputies said that a northbound semi owned by Quarry Heights Transport, Elmwood, and operated by David Samuelson, 48, Elmwood, entered the ditch and rolled over. The corn then spilled into the ditch. Samuelson was uninjured The Sheriff’s Department was notified of the accident at 12:04 p.m. One lane of Hwy. 63 was closed for about an hour to remove the semi. Ellsworth and Spring Valley Fire along with Spring Valley Ambulance and the Pierce County Highway Department assisted at the scene. Deputies said the cause of the accident is undetermined as of Monday afternoon.
