Sam Blue explained he and sister Missi were seeking something to work on together for awhile. Nothing materialized until they found out about Bay City Hardware. “We thought we would give this a try,” he said. The brother-and-sister became new owners of the business last month, taking the reins from longtime owner Tom Tyler. Sam Blue said the business will now be called Bay City Hardware and Marine, as it is the Blues’ plan to expand the store’s marine section. All the employees stayed on, including Tyler. “We’ve got a solid foundation here,” Blue said. The Blues will be splitting time at Bay City Hardware with their other jobs--he at the Red Wing Airport and she with Sturdiwheat Foods in Red Wing. Bay City Hardware and Marine will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Saturdays and will be closed Sundays. From left to right are Sam, Tyler and Missi.
