Robert C. Syverson, 78

Robert "Bob" Syverson, 78, of Ellsworth, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at the Red Wing Health Center.

Robert was born on April 12, 1931, in Ulen, Minn., to Carl and Ruth Syverson. He worked on the family farm and farms in the area until serving in the Army from 1952-1954. After he was discharged, he was employed with Harvest States Grain Terminal Association (GTA) as a grain mixer for 37 years.

He liked hobby farming, gardening, cooking, and canning, and you could often find him restoring his antique tractors in his garage. He also enjoyed camping on the weekend with friends and family.

Robert is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Vern (Margaret) Syverson, Ron Maitrejean, Terry (Pam) Syverson, Deb (Loren) Sauter, Cindy (Jeff) Huppert, Heidi (Chris) Gutting, Cheryl (Greg) Tovsen, Steve (Judy) Bloch, Scott (Julie) Bloch, Lori (Tim) McNichols; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; two sisters; a brother-in-law; a sister-in-law; a nephew; and a great-granddaughter.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, at English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Interment will follow at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wis. Visitation will be on Friday for one hour prior to the service at church.
