Mary Lou Nelson, 81, of River Falls, Wis., died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Grace Health Care Center, River Falls.

Mary Lou Nelson, 81, of River Falls, Wis., died Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Grace Health Care Center, River Falls.

Mary Lou was born on Nov. 11, 1930, in Red Wing, Minn., to Richard and Alrine (Ziemann) Cook. She was a graduate of Red Wing High School. She married Clifford A. Nelson on May 14, 1949, in Red Wing. Mary Lou worked for several years at Red Wing Industries, Fashionaire in River Falls, housekeeping at the Ellsworth Care Center, and in the kitchen for the Ellsworth Head Start program. She retired from Helping Hands in River Falls in 1995.

Mary Lou loved spending time with her family, dancing, and rock and roll music. She was a member of Ezekiel Lutheran Church, River Falls.

Mary Lou is survived by her four children: Alan (Jeanette M.) Nelson, Ellsworth, Wis.; Lynda (Donald) Risler, Bay City, Wis.; RoxAnne (Richard) Olson, Prescott, Wis.; Corey W. (Renee) Nelson, Danbury, Wis.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Dixie M. (Don) Merckling; and brother, Brian W. (Alene) Cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Funeral services for Mary Lou will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church, River Falls. Burial will be at a later date at our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, Beldenville. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home, River Falls, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
