Nona Betty Schladweiler, age 89, of Ellsworth, Wis., died Thursday, Dec. 15, at the River Falls Area Hospital, River Falls, Wis.
Nona Betty Schladweiler, age 89, of Ellsworth, Wis., died Thursday, Dec. 15, at the River Falls Area Hospital, River Falls, Wis.
Nona was born on Feb. 20, 1922, in Nelson, Wis., the daughter of Charles and Anna (Markey) Earney. When she was a child, she and her family moved to Bay City, Wis., where she received 10 years of schooling at Bay City Community School. In 1940 she became a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Clayfield) Catholic Church, Ellsworth, where she was baptized by Fr. Lawrence Bindl. On Aug. 20, 1940, she married Arnold Schladweiler. Together they farmed in the town of Hartland for 22 years. In 1962 they moved to rural Ellsworth where they continued to farm until Arnold's death in 1997.
Nona was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth.
She is survived by her five children: Robert Schladweiler, Ellsworth; Rita (Donald) Anderson, Ellsworth; Hubert "Butch" (Rita) Schladweiler, Hager City, Wis.; Lyle Schladweiler, Shawnee, Okla.; James Schladweiler, Ellsworth; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Arnold; grandson baby Schladweiler; parents; sisters, Gladys Avery, Wilma Stamp, Zelda Funk; brothers, Gilbert and Wilfred Earney.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Nona will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth. Fr. Roy Witucki will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Clayfield) Cemetery. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
