Marcella E. Hanson, age 94, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the River Falls Area Hospital.

Marcella E. Hanson, age 94, of Ellsworth, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, at the River Falls Area Hospital.

Marcella was born on Oct. 25, 1917, at home in the town of Ellsworth, to Martin and Gunda (Halverson) Christenson. She married Darwin Hanson on Nov. 27, 1944, at Our Savior's parsonage in Beldenville. Marcella was a member of Bethel Covenant Church and Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting.

Marcella is survived by her six children: Jim Hanson, Ellsworth; Jerome (Norma) Hanson, Hager City; Judy (Terry) Olson, Ellsworth; Janice (Junior) Gipford, Ellsworth; Sharleen (Danny) Holden, Hager City; Sandy (Randy) Bayer, Ellsworth; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Glenn Christenson, Ellsworth.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband; grandsons Nick and infant Troy; parents; great-grandson Josh; daughter-in-law Sharon Hanson; brother Harley; and two sisters, Shirley and Mary Ann.

Funeral services for Marcella will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, at Bethel Covenant Church, Ellsworth. Rev. Greg Fondell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at the church and for 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.

Pallbearers will be Marcella's grandchildren: Dale Hanson, Larry Hanson, Craig Koll, Jeff Hanson, Scott Hanson, Chad Olson, Todd Olson, Dusty Olson, Kristy Matzek, Shawn Gipford, Tina Rohl, Tammy Mears, and Tara Huppert.
