Roger William Most, age 88, of Prescott, died Saturday, March 24, at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.

Roger was born on June 5, 1923 in Prescott, the son of Ralph and Mary (Sperr) Most. He was a 1941 graduate of Prescott High School. From 1942-1946, he worked for his dad on the farm. He served in the Army from 19445-1946. From 1946-1956, Roger went back to work for his dad at the implement dealership. On Oct. 17, 1957, he was appointed postmaster by president Dwight D. Eisenhower, retiring in 1988. Jan. 27, 1988, was declared "Roger Most Day" by the mayor of Prescott, celebrating his retirement. Roger married Bonnie Bean Sept. 30, 1957, and she died on Sept. 17, 1988. On April 1, 1989, he married Phyllis Wurtz.
Roger enjoyed traveling to foreign countries, taking cruises, and traveling throughout the United States, visiting every state in the union.
Roger was active in fundraising for the Prescott Heritage Center and Freedom Park. He also served as treasurer for the Heritage and Welcome Center and the Clock Tower Fund Raising Committee.
Roger was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prescott.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Prescott; two sons, Terry (Julie) Most, Cottage Grove, Minn.; Steve (Teri) Most, Lake Elmo, Minn.; three grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Most and Ben Most; two stepdaughters, Mary Jo (Ken) Debol and Ann (Gene) Hoff; four step-grandchildren and nine great-step-grandchildren; brother Bill (Elaine) Most, Prescott.
He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie; parents; brothers Frederick, Charles, Harry, Ralph Jr.; and sisters, Mary Ann, Elaine, and Helen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Prescott. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
