Irene Henrietta Peterson, age 93, of River Falls, formerly of Ellsworth, died Friday, March 29, at the Kinnic Health and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls.
Irene Henrietta Peterson, age 93, of River Falls, formerly of Ellsworth, died Friday, March 29, at the Kinnic Health and Rehabilitation Center, River Falls.
Irene was born on Sept. 3, 1918, in the town of Martell, the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Johnson) Norderhaug. She married Randolph Peterson on Dec. 29, 1938. They farmed for several years until Randolph went to work for Ellsworth Farmers Union. Irene spent a lot of time with her grandchildren and was a great cook who loved to welcome all into her home and feed them. She was a lifelong member of Rush River Lutheran Church.
Irene is survived by ten children: Mary (Tom) Hines, Ellsworth; Edith (Alfred) Gunderson, Eleva, Wis.; Joan (Gordon) Sando, Henderson, Nev.; Ronald (Kathy) Peterson, Hastings, Minn.; Betty (Ernest L. Jr.) Zappa, Clear Lake, Wis.; Allan Peterson, River Falls; Roberta (Steve) Sylla, River Falls; Paul (Shell) Peterson, St. Paul, Minn.; Jane (Larry) Evin, Baldwin, Wis.; Timothy (Donna) Peterson, Hammond, Wis. Irene was adored by her 27 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Randolph, in 1994; daughter Sandy in 1949; son David in 2010; four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Irene will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at Rush River Lutheran Church, River Falls. Burial will be in Our Savior's Cemetery, North, Beldenville, Wis. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. Tuesday and for 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday, all at the church.

Mary, Edith, Ronald, Joan, Betty and the rest of the family: I am so sorry that I missed the visitation for your mother...I would have liked to have seen you all again and extended my condolences in person. Your mother was always so sweet and your family was such a part of my early years...those were happy days.
