Mavis Davis, age 85, of Ellsworth died Thursday, June 7, at Ellsworth Care Center.

Mavis was born on July 24, 1926, in Ellsworth, to Fred and Florence (Huber) Thompson.
She was a 1944 graduate of Ellsworth High School. Mavis married Theodore (Ted) Davis on Aug. 5, 1950. She and Ted raised five children in Ellsworth. Mavis retired as the manager of the Farmers Union Co-op Hardware Store after 20+ years of service. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and traveling. Mavis was an active member of the Ellsworth United Methodist Church until its closing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son in-law Billy Lowe; and sisters, Beverly Hahn, Marian "Pat" Thompson; and brother, Jim Thompson.
She is survived by loving husband, Ted; children, Judy Lowe, Leslie (James DeYoung) Davis, Jill (Nick Reeder) Davis, Susan Davis, and Theodore Scott Davis; and granddaughter, Maddison.
Services for Mavis will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Ted and family: I'm very sorry for your loss. So glad I got to see Mavis at Easter when she was still feeling good and happily working on a quilt. She was lucky to have you all near her in her last days. Love, NickDayton, OH 06/09/2012 9:10 AM
