Duane L. Hanson, age 75, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, July 31, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.
Duane L. Hanson, age 75, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, July 31, at Regions Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.
He was born on June 8, 1937, in the town of Trimbelle, Pierce County, to Roy and Doris (Bredahl) Hanson. Duane grew up on a farm on County Rd. O, in the town of Trimbelle and was a 1955 graduate of Ellsworth High School. He worked a number of years as a welder and later went to work for the 3M Corporation, retiring from the Chemolite Plant, after 33 years of service.
Duane married Mary Jeannine Madsen on Sept. 11, 1958, in Hammond, Wis. Together they lived in the Ellsworth area most of their lives, and where they raised their four children, Theresa, Ed, Steven and Donna.
Duane enjoyed the great outdoors. He especially loved hunting, fishing, his fishing trips to Lake Mille Lacs each winter, and deer hunting.
Duane was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jeannine Hanson, Ellsworth; four children: Teresa (Gary) Bartlett, Kandiyohi, Minn.; Ed (Debbie) Hanson, Knapp, Wis.; Steve (Cindy) Hanson, Ellsworth; Donna (Rick) Bloomquist, Woodville, Wis.; grandchildren: Owen, Seth, Alex, Brad, Rena, Wade, Evie, and Anna Bartlett; Michael and Mitchell Hanson; Suzanna, Cooper, Angela, and Miranda Roatch; great-grandchildren: Mason and Gavin Winger; Abigail Cooper; Emma Mae and Shane Bartlett; Raylynn Jorgenson; sister, Diane (Jerry) Cole, Nevis, Minn.; sister-in-law Carlene Hanson, Ellsworth; brothers-in-law: Gerald (Joan) Madsen, River Falls, Wis.; Bob (Thekla) Madsen, River Falls. Duane is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
His granddaughter Mary Ann Roatch; parents; and brothers, Bob and Richard, preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian burial for Duane will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, with a Rosary service at 5:30 p.m., at St. Francis Catholic Church, Ellsworth, and for 1 hour prior to the Mass on Friday.
