LeRoy "Zeke" A. Struve died Saturday, Aug. 25, at Prescott Care Center.

LeRoy "Zeke" A. Struve died Saturday, Aug. 25, at Prescott Care Center.

He was born March 22, 1927, to Herman and Freda Struve of Minneapolis, Minn. They then moved to Pierce County, Oak Grove Township, Prescott, Wis., where he grew up and went to school. He helped with the farm, chores, and worked in Minneapolis for a while before going into the Army Air Force. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the 862nd Engineer Aviation Battalion in Germany. After he was discharged, he started farming at home. He married Ollie May Dickenson in 1948. He farmed and did carpenter work.

LeRoy was a member of St. John's Church and served on the board some years. He was an assessor for the Town of Oak Grove for 6 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 61 and life member of VFW Post 9060. He served as commander of Post 61 and served 1 year as the American Legion chaplain for the Pierce County Council. He loved to hunt and fish.

He is preceded in death by his father, Herman, when he was 13 years old; his mother, Freda; brother Robert, and sister-in-law, Alice.

He is survived by Ollie, his loving wife of 64 years; sister, Dorothy Johnson of Hudson, Wis.; son Larry (Shirley) Eagle; daughter, Rahndy (Fred) Jadinak of Mankato, Minn.; sons Joseph (Barbara) of Prescott, Gerald C. "Zeke" of Prescott, and Brian (Holly) of Hastings; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many loving family members.

A funeral service for LeRoy will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Prescott. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hill Funeral Home in Prescott and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
