Willard "Jack" Traynor, 93, lifelong resident of Spring Valley, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at his home, with his family at his side.

Willard "Jack" Traynor, 93, lifelong resident of Spring Valley, Wis., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at his home, with his family at his side.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1918, the son of James and Nellie (Donnelly) Traynor in Gilman Township. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in El Paso and was presently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley.

He graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1935. Two years later, he graduated from River Falls College in 1937 and took his first teaching job at the Foley School, located west of Grange Hall.

In 1949, he took his second teaching job at the Beldenville School, teaching first through eighth grades.

On Aug. 7, 1951, he married Doris Krause at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood.

In 1954, he left the farm and went to work for Northrup King Seed Company in Minneapolis for 9 years, but still kept close touch with the farm.

In 1966, he received his master's degree in elementary education from UW-River Falls and taught in the Ellsworth School System as principal and teacher for 23 years. He was a person who could retain so much information and share so many memories of his life and all the hard work his generation had to endure.

Preceding his death were his parents, James and Nellie; two sisters, Lamoine Traynor and Rochelle Lansing; and one brother, Donald Traynor.

Survivors include wife, Doris Traynor of Spring Valley; sister Bonnie O'Meara of Menomonie; son, Steve (Mary) Traynor of Spring Valley; daughter, Carol (Jerry) Bressler of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Nadine (Craig) Haas, Jamie (Ryan) Faber, Christina (Kevin) Kienlen, Chris and Sarah Traynor; five great-grandchildren, and other relatives and many friends.

The visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Valley. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at Sacred Heart Church, with Father Louis and Brother Michael Mandernach officiating. Organist was Ellen Rominski. Special music was provided by vocalist Lance Wendlandt and the Sacred Heart Choir. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Spring Valley. Pall bearers were Christopher Traynor, Craig Haas, Ryan Faber, Kevin Kienlen, Tom Krause, and Dave Timmons.
