Margaret A. "Peg" Haster, age 69, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.

Margaret A. "Peg" Haster, age 69, of Ellsworth, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, at United Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.

Peg was born in Red Wing, Minn., on Sept. 10, 1943, the daughter of Richard and Judith (Johnson) Dougherty.

Peg graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961 and later from the Oliver Thein Beauty School. Her career started in St. Paul and continued in Hudson, Wis., where she owned and operated her own shop for many years.

Peg was united in marriage to Sam Haster on Nov. 7, 1987.

She was a member of the Ellsworth Country Club for many years and enjoyed many rounds of golf. Peg also loved her winter golfing vacations with her special cousin, Joan DeGross, and her husband, Larry. Bowling was another favorite pastime she enjoyed for many years.

Peg was a very caring person, always ready with a smile, a kind word, and a helping hand. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Peg is survived by her husband, Sam, Ellsworth; daughter, Julie (Bret) Smith, and granddaughter, Madeline Marie Smith, all of Forest Lake, Minn.; sister, Patty Johnson, Eau Claire, Wis.; brothers: Joe (Sandy) Dougherty, Ellsworth; Tim (Cheryl) Dougherty, River Falls, Wis. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Peg will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, at a later date. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home for 2 hours prior to the funeral on Tuesday.
