Howard Wicklund of Plum City, Wis., died Nov. 21.
Howard was born Jan. 25, 1931, to Agnes (Newstrom) and Walfred Wicklund. Howard grew up on a farm near Lund, Wis. He attended the 16th school house in his elementary years and graduated from Maiden Rock High School. Howard worked for his dad at the Lund Feed Mill until Walfred, his dad, retired, and Howard took over as owner. In 1966, Howard sold the feed mill to the Durand Co-op and returned to farming. Howard farmed for many years with the help of his wife and children.
Howard was an active member of Lund Mission Covenant Church and served on both the executive and trustees boards at various times. Howard was very artistic; therefore, in his free time, he loved to draw, oil paint, and landscape. He, along with his wife, loved birds, and Howard made several bird houses and feeders to attract different birds to their yard. Howard was an avid Brewers, Packers, and Badgers fan.
Survivors include sons, Steve (Robbie) Wicklund of Pepin and Scott Wicklund of Plymouth, Minn.; daughters, Cindy (Barry) Hanson of Hastings, Minn., and Crystal (John) Hinrichs of Maiden Rock; 11 grandchildren, April, Amanda, Hannah, Colter, Denton, Justin, Isaac, Lyndsey, Kyler, Tyne, and Shayne; two great-grandchildren, Cole and Madeline Klinger; brothers Buford, Dudley, and Floyd Wicklund; and sister Phyllis Halling.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Wicklund, who he loved dearly; his parents, Walfred and Agnes Wicklund; sister Gladys Nichols; brothers, Willard, Clifford, and Raymond Wicklund.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Lund Mission Covenant Church. Memorial visitation will also be Friday, Nov. 30, from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Marie Lund Cemetery.
