Luella "Lue" Isabelle Hautzinger, 84, of Durand, Wis., died Monday, Jan. 28, at the Chippewa Valley Hospital, Durand.

Luella "Lue" Isabelle Hautzinger, 84, of Durand, Wis., died Monday, Jan. 28, at the Chippewa Valley Hospital, Durand.

Luella was born on March 30, 1928, in Eau Galle, Wis., the daughter of Maynard and Vera (DeLong) Bowen. She moved to River Falls with her parents as a young teenager. In 1953, she went to Plum City, Wis., where she was employed at the Plum City Community Hospital until it closed in 1970. Lue then worked at the Tad Nursing Home and later the new Plum City Care Center. In late 1957, she met David Hautzinger. They were married on Dec. 18, 1959, at The Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. She and David made their home in Durand for 10 years, then moving to the country in the Durand area. Luella continued to work until 1994 when she retired from the care center.

She was dedicated to her work and enjoyed meeting and caring for people. Luella and her husband enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and golfing, which they did throughout the United States and Canada. Luella had many hobbies; besides gardening and flowers, she did crafts, knitting, ceramics, and painting, which she enjoyed very much. After losing her husband, she moved back to the city of Durand where she resided the rest of her life.

Luella was a member of the Bible Center Church, Maiden Rock, Wis.

She is survived by her brother Jack (Beverly) Bowen, Prescott, Wis., and sister Nona Stockwell, Maiden Rock; aunts, Dorothy DeLong, Elmwood, and Mary Ann DeLong, Durand; sister in-law Helen Bowen, River Falls, Wis. She is further survived by nieces and nephews.

Luella was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother Russell Bowen; sisters Verla Stockwell and Lila Stockwell; brothers-in-law, Elwin, Leon, and Russell Stockwell; and her niece Jackie Neumann.

Funeral services for Luella will be 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at the Bible Center Church, Maiden Rock. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, River Falls. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
