Richard Levi Hanson, age 93, of Ellsworth, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Feb. 1, at the Prescott Nursing Home.

Richard Levi Hanson, age 93, of Ellsworth, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Feb. 1, at the Prescott Nursing Home.

Richard was born the son of Charles and Carrie (Nash) Hanson on Oct. 13, 1919, at home in Moeville, Pierce County, Wis. He attended the Lindgren Country School. Richard farmed and spent 33 years with Pierce County Highway Department. On July 19, 1941, he married Dorothy Boleen in Red Wing, Minn.

He was a lifelong member of Bethel Mission Covenant Church, spending many years as an usher. He raised a big garden, enjoyed cutting wood and fishing, and loved to spend time with his family. Richard and Dorothy took in and helped out those they could in many different ways. He had a quick wit, worked hard, and enjoyed eating at Perkins. Richard took his first flight in an airplane in his mid-80s.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Carrie Hanson; wife, Dorothy Hanson; great-grandchildren Tony Ingli, Amber Rose Ingli; and 12 siblings.

Richard is survived by his children, Katherine (Robert) Priest, Janet (Bob) Karras, Linda (David) Dopkins, Dennis (Nancy) Hanson, Dan (Sandy) Hanson; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister Joyce Kruse; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Bethel Mission Covenant Church. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at Bethel Mission Covenant Church, and also Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be in Bethel Mission Covenant Cemetery.
