Jeffrey Dennis Matthews, age 46, of Hager City, Wis., was pronounced dead on Saturday, Feb. 16, in the town of Trenton, Pierce County, Wis.
Jeff was born on Dec. 6, 1966, in Red Wing, Minn., the son of Dennis and Judi (Hennen) Matthews. He was a 1986 graduate of Ellsworth High School and later Dakota County Tech. Jeff was currently employed by the Red Wing Shoe Co.
Jeff was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, play cards, and most especially spend time with his kids and niece and nephew, Matthew and Kaitlyn.
Jeff is survived by his son and daughter, Tyler Matthews and Courtney Matthews, both of Ellsworth, Wis.; parents, Dennis and Judi Matthews, Hager City; sister, Jamie (Victor) Peterson, Hager City; niece and nephew, Matthew and Kaitlyn Peterson, Hager City; former wife, Tris Matthews, Ellsworth. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends.
His grandparents, Marvin and Edna Hennen and Orva and Gladys Matthews, preceded him in death
Funeral services for Jeff will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at English Lutheran Church, Ellsworth. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, Ellsworth, and for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the church on Friday.
Hill Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Ellsworth, is serving the family.
